YvetteMeggsDuke Raleigh Hospital’s Yvette Meggs, a post-op nurse in same day surgery since 2001, has received the 2008 Great 100 Nurses in North Carolina award for excellence in nursing.

The Great 100 is a peer organization that recognizes outstanding individuals, promotes the profession and organizes scholarship funds for registered nurses.

A nurse for 24 years, Meggs, RN, CN IV, is a magnet chair for the hospital magnet champions, and is responsible for educating staff on how to apply everyday activities to the magnet program. As a surgical tech/clinical RN ladder adviser, she takes an active role in assisting nurses in finding professional development opportunities.

“I am humbled and awed to be recognized as one of North Carolina’s Great 100. It is truly one of the most distinguished honors a nurse can receive,” Meggs said.
