Meet a Great Nurse: Fran Bryant
posted August 11th, 2010Fran Bryant, RN, BSN, a clinical nurse IV on Unit 6300 at DUH, is one of nine DUHS nurses named a Great 100.
She has been a nurse for 36 years and has been at Duke for 21 years.
Fran is often the charge nurse on 6300 and she says she enjoys her role.
"It's like being the traffic director of the unit," she explains. "You get to interact with patients and families and staff."
Fran says there are several young nurses on the floor right now. "I've been blessed to work with so many outstanding nurses, and it's neat to see how they grow," she said.
"I want to try to be there for them, because I had people that were there for me," she said. "I certainly couldn't have made it without them."
Fran speaks highly of Duke and the opportunities available to nurses at Duke.
"Duke really fosters professional growth," she says. "Not only do they encourage it, but they support it."
She says this is vital for growth and that it keeps her "excited and interested" in what she does.
