Durham Regional recognizes quarterly SHC award winners

The Strength, Hope and Caring Awards are given quarterly to recognize employees who have the characteristics of Strength, Hope and Caring in their daily work.

Carol ClaytonCarol Clayton, Senior Public Relations Specialist
“Carol was diligently working to develop a communication plan for an initiative that was having several operational issues. She took it upon herself to coordinate meetings between several departments so that the project’s issues could be resolved. Others have recognized her tenacity with regards to this project. Carol always responds to the needs of internal and external customers, addressing concerns, assisting with their needs and pleasantly resolving issues when needed. She extends her hands and time to help others get their projects done. She is known to stay late to help others meet their deadlines. She cares about details and making sure information is right.”

Tammie GullieTammie Gullie, RN, Newborn Nursery
“We had a baby in the nursery for two months who was addicted to Methadone and placement post-discharge had not been decided. We had to hold him almost around the clock, to help ease the symptoms of his withdraw. It was evident that he was getting bigger and needed a different environment than we could provide. Tammie led the team to create a minimally-stimulating environment for this baby. She called Duke Hospital and got a bigger crib for him to sleep in, and even went out and bought a mobile, stroller and toys for him with her own money. That dedication truly proves that she loves her babies.”
