School of Medicine graduates celebrate at Duke University commencement activities.
At Duke University commencement ceremonies on Sunday, May 16, 2010, the School of Medicine celebrated 103 new graduates of the Doctor of Medicine program. Once again, Duke medical students have done very well in the annual Match Day. The School's new graduates will go to strong programs around the country, with some clustering: 30 will stay here at Duke for their residencies, five will go to Harvard programs, five to Stanford programs, and five to University of Washington programs. Six have matched to residencies in New York City. The School also did well on the other end – highly qualified incoming residents will fill all of our 166 slots, and approximately 100 young physicians will come to Duke for fellowships and other specialized training.
In addition to the graduating medical students, 77 biomedical doctoral (Ph.D.) students, 66 physician assistant (P.A.) students and 49 doctor of physical therapy (D.P.T.) students received degrees, along with others in our clinical research master’s degree programs.
