RobertLefkowitzMonday is the big day for Duke’s Robert J. Lefkowitz, M.D.

Lefkowitz will be at the White House to receive the National Medal of Science, the nation’s highest award for science.

Inside Online will take you there live—streaming video of the ceremony to this web site. After the event ends, we’ll post the video.

Lefkowitz calls the medal  “a great personal and professional honor.”

The award cites his lifetime of research into understanding the largest, most important and most therapeutically accessible receptor system that controls the body’s response to drugs and hormones. This work facilitated and fundamentally altered the way in which numerous therapeutic agents have been developed.
