DUH Celebrates Nurses Week, May 6-12

Duke University Hospital celebrates 2010 National Nurses Week with activities May 6-12.

Nurses Week activities are coordinated by Friends of Nursing (FON) and Nurse Recruitment (NR). Please direct any questions about the activities listed below to either Scotty Elliott (FON) at 681-5094 (scotty.elliott@duke.edu) or Reaia Winston (NR) 668-1830 (reaia.winston@duke.edu).

Thursday, May 6

7 - 8:30 a.m. -- Grab-n-Go donuts for night staff; FON giveaways, surveys and raffle entries, T-Level lobby in front of hospital elevators. (FON)
8 a.m. - 5 p.m. -- Nurse Recruitment delivers individual gifts to each unit. Some units may get delivery on Friday, May 7 by 5:00pm. ISRP will pick up their gifts in the IRSP office. PRN should pick up their gifts at IOP office. (NR)
10 a.m. - 2 p.m. -- International Festival. Enjoy music, crafts, and nurses from around the world in Duke North Courtyard. (FON)
12:15 p.m. --  American Board of Nursing Specialties presents DUHS with 2010 ABNS Award for Nursing Certification Advocacy in Duke North Courtyard.

Friday, May 7

9 a.m.- 5 p.m. -- Nurse Recruitment will deliver individual gifts to each unit. (NR)
10 - 11 a.m. -- Nursing Grand Rounds, “Diabetes: The Disease that Crosses All Specialties” in Duke North Room 2003. No registration required. (FON)
11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. -- Stop by tables at North & South cafeterias for surveys, giveaways and raffle entries. (FON)

Saturday, May 8

7 - 8:30 a.m. -- Grab-n-Go donuts for weekend and night staff; FON giveaways, surveys and raffle entries; T-Level lobby in front of hospital elevators. (FON)

Monday, May 10

11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. -- Tables at North & South cafeterias will have surveys, giveaways and raffle entries.

Tuesday, May 11

10 - 11 a.m. -- “Batteries not Included” seminar with motivational speaker Bobbie Staten, MPH, BSN, CSP in Duke North 2002. No registration required.

Wednesday, May 12

10 - 11 a.m. --  Nursing Grand Rounds, “Nursing Perspectives on Haiti” in Duke North Room 2002. No registration required.
11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. -- Tables at North & South cafeterias for surveys, giveaways and raffle entries. (FON)
