8th annual Teddy Bear Challenge
posted October 7th, 2009It is that time of year again! Dr. Bill Fulkerson's 8th annual Teddy Bear Challenge for the Teddy Bear Ball has begun. Last year’s challenge was a huge success with more than 300 bears donated to help raise money for the Children's Health Center.
Duke Children's Hospital & Health Center's 20th Annual Teddy Bear Ball will be held Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009, at the Durham Marriott and Civic Center. The evening begins with cocktails, great food and a silent auction. Guests will have the chance to mingle among 300 silent auction items — and, of course, lovable teddy bears — while waiting for that adrenaline-rushing moment of making a final bid.
The best part .... it is all for the children!
Here’s how you can help! The Challenge is for individuals and departments to submit bears you have decorated, and you compete with your peers for prizes. (Please see attachment below for the rules and guidelines to follow for the 2009 challenge). Prizes are awarded in various categories, and you will have the chance to win two tickets to the Teddy Bear Ball, dinner for two and other prizes.
The bears are due by Monday, Oct. 26, and can be dropped off in the Hospital Administration Suite, Room 14209 Red Zone, Duke South. Judging will take place on Friday, Oct. 30, and the winners will be announced by the end of the day on Nov. 2. For additional information about the Challenge, please contact Corrine Starke at 684-1860.
